Survivors

From the fame of Midnight Groovers, came two young men from the cultural capital of Grand Bay named, Englebert “Shingles” Defoe and Reynold “Survival” Alcendor.  Defoe played with the Midnight Groovers as the lead vocalist in New York for Labor Day and a few jams in Grand Bay in the absence of Phillip Chubby Mark.  He also did guest performances on the first Grand Bay Isidore Calypso competition.  Englebert is now the sound engineer of the Midnight Groovers.

Reynold “Survival” Alcendor has held the position of Calypso King in Grand Bay for a number of years and quarter finalist in the Dominica Calypso Competition.  Presently he is the percussionist (cowbell) and back up vocalist of the Midnight Groovers.

Englebert and Reynold decided to explore their talent by forming a group called Survivors.  They then released a CD with two songs entitled “Fam Gwo Tete” written by Phillip Chubby Mark and “Love Me Baby” written by Englebert Defoe.  “Fam Gwo Tete” is currently a hit song in Dominica and the group is planning to release a complete CD later in the year.

For more information, contact Sewo Music Studio, owned by Englebert Defoe, and located in Grand Bay at 767-446-4603 or 767-245-1129 or 767-316-7496 or email at downtown697@hotmail.com.

Livity

The name Livity symbolizes the highest stage of natural living on an island where doing just that is no big task, particularly in Grand Bay with rivers, abundance of fruits, warm tropical clime, the waterfalls, the sea and shores (bordlanmere) and a Jah blessed country.

Livity evolved a year ago, from the need to bring to light and inform oppressed  people about biblical, social, economical and historical truths which are important to one's development in our existential realities.

The group comprises Jeno (Jah- Know, Jahcub) Jacob on bass guitar and lead vocals, Balthazar Riza Martin lead guitar, Phillip Selah Samuel on keyboard, and Leonard Jules on drums ( Ian Bongo Lion Angol played drums on  single: “I won’t worry”).

Livity released its hit single “I won’t Worry” written, sung and arranged by Jahcub. Livity is still in studio completing its positive vibes, 8 songs CD to be entitled: Jah First.

The group will launch the CD during the Reunion celebrations in South City.

All roots rock reggae lovers must come ready to support this charismatic group. Oh, and if you want to contribute to Livity’s development to perform in Gigs, to be a CD Distributor/ Promotion Agent or other wise contact:
